Introducing the HP Vivienne Tam Laptop – Butterfly Lovers Laptop Design

What better way than to merge fashion with IT for fashion and gadget lovers like myself?

The big news is: ASOS is hosting a brand new blogging competition!

Battle of the Bloggers: are YOU fashion’s next big blogging sensation?

HP’s newest netbooks, designed by Vivienne Tam, are so gorgeous that Samantha uses nothing else in the latest Sex and the City movie.

Speaking of SATC2, we’re paying tribute to fashion’s most famous (fictional) fashion journo, by teaming up with HP to find blogging’s next Big Thing.

We’re on the look out for the fashion blogger of the future and have got an amazing prize for aspiring writers everywhere.

The Prize:
The winner of our Battle of the Bloggers competition will become ASOS.com’s resident Street Style Blogger at large and given a series of fashion assignments to undertake.

We’ll send you to a stylish city every four weeks for the next few months, along with a photographer, to make your own personal fashion discoveries. As well as blogging about the people, you’ll also need to write about the places you go to – from regional trends to the coolest places to hang out.

You’ll get your own branded blogging channel on ASOS Life where your column will be hosted, as well as coverage on ASOS.com and the HP site. And when your time with ASOS.com is up, we’ll set you up with your own blog on an external site so you can continue to write up a storm.

What with all that blogging to get through, you’ll need the right tools, so you’ll receive a Vivienne Tam netbook just like the one in the SATC2 film, courtesy of our friends at HP!

Toy Story is BACK!

http://thepeoplesmovies.files.wordpress.com/2009/10/toy-story-3-teaser-trailer-woody-buzz-bullseye.jpg

I’ve always been a fan of Toy Story! Been a Pixar fan since I was a kid, Toy Story’s one of my favourites from the animation giant next to Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, A Bug’s Life, Up and Wall-E!

Gosh, the memories of those movies are so awesome and makes me smile everytime I think of those super cute characters, especially from Toy Story! “Woooooodyyyy, where aarrreee youuuuuu????”

Remember those Pixar short films too?

I love <Party Cloudy> and <Lifted>. Awww.

So back to Toy Story. Here’s an interesting snippet from an interview with THE Ohio-born director Lee Unkrich:

Q: It has been 11 years since Toy Story 2. Did the design strategy change?

A: All these years have gone by, so we weren’t able to just resurrect the old Woody and Buzz. It would be kind of like trying to open a Photoshop document from 15 years ago. Who knows if you’d have any luck or not? … So we had to completely rebuild every character for this new world that we’re in. And because we had to do that anyway, we took advantage of the opportunity to kind of upgrade everybody and fix a lot of little things that we always wanted to fix.

On Woody, for instance, the way he is stitched feels much more realistic. His fabric kind of puckers where it is sewn together. We changed a lot of the proportions of little details on Woody’s belt and holster, too.

But we also worked very, very hard to make sure that, fundamentally, he looks the same. Otherwise, it would feel like you were watching Bewitched and the new Darrin showed up (laughing).

Q: What movies inspired the child-care sequence? The Great Escape seems like an obvious one.

A: When we had that initial two-day retreat, we came up with a few fundamental ideas – one of which was having Andy grown up and heading off to college, but another one was the idea that the toys were going to end up in a day care and that it was going to become more like a prison.

That led to a lot of really spirited, fun conversations where we couldn’t help but notice that there are a lot of similarities between day-care centers and prisons (laughing). You’ve got security cameras everywhere. You’ve got a walled-in exercise yard in the back. It became a lot of fun to find all those parallels.

So we watched a lot of prison movies like The Great Escape and Cool Hand Luke. … Little bits of ideas from those movies certainly percolated in.
