As I’ve mentioned in the previous post, I’m so glad that I went for ASEANpreneurs Youth Leaders Exchange after all as I’ve learnt so much from this trip to Jakarta, Indonesia! It’s my maiden trip to Jakarta and boy was it an eye-opener! But more than anything else, I’ve never expected it to seriously change my life but coming back to Singapore, my head’s simply full of ideas and my arms open to opportunities. Hence, I’m developing my business plan now so watch this space for updates! I promise that there’ll be something really exciting, unique and interesting for you guys soon! I’ll be doing a series of polls to ask for opinions so please give me your fullest support and I’ll be really appreciative! Thank you!!!

Day 1!
We arrived at Jakarta late in the morning and drove to D’Loft where it was our accommodation for a week! The rooms we were given were simple but comfortable, and we had plenty of time to chill and have our meal/sleep for the rest of the afternoon, before gathering together in the evening for dinner for introduction and “ice-breakers”, when the rest of the participants (from ASEAN countries including Myanmar, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei, The Philippines, Thailand and of course, Singapore) have arrived too…
AND! I must say Eric’s so neat and organized! Just look into the wardrobe! He has arranged all his clothes neatly into “categories” like tshirts, pants, outerwear etc etc!!!
The pretty pretty sunflowers were taken at Changi Airport!!! Kudos to our lovely airport which is always well maintained and efficient in every way!

Day 2!

Day 2!
Day 2 includes a series of seminars from the Creative Economy and on Leadership. We listened to speakers from the Ministry of Trade, BINUS University, the British Council (Indonesia) etc, and after dinner had to prepare for presentations the next morning, so all of us only had a few hours of sleep! Everyday was quite jam-packed so in a way a lot of events and activities were covered in the one week programme. You win some, you lose some (sleep) I guess!

Day 3!
Tuesday: My group had a morning presentation on ASEAN countries and their competitive advantages in FASHION!!!
Later in the day…we visited Matari Advertising (one of the largest advertising companies in Indonesia) and Abodey which does architecture. It’s a time whereby we can ask as many questions as we want with regards to entrepreneurial “secrets” and strategies. It’s a learning experience that gives inspiration at the same time!
Wednesday: a relatively uneventful day with more seminars/talks from the Film, IT & Online, Fashion and Music industries. The speakers who made an impact were Wahyu Aditya – Founder of Hellomotion, Yoris Sebastian of OMG Consulting. And group discussions at the end of the day.
Thursday: This is much more exciting, when we visited Elasitas (software and program development company) and SCTV (TV station)!

@ SCTV!
I’ve forgotten to add, but Eric and I have made fast friends with Chua and Jooann from Australia National University and I even gave us the title of “The Cullens”! Heehee!!! But oh man, I think we look so tired from the photos…

I had a go at the stands! Do I look like a potential newscaster?!

Camwhoring while the others are sleeping soundly on the bus!
