Asher Book – Try.

I chanced upon this video on facebook in Trisha’s thread! My breath caught in my throat when I heard it…it’s SOOOO BEAUTIFUL!!! I believe any girl would be touched if she were serenaded by such a wonderful voice and song! Needless to say, Asher Book is CUTE! This song, “Try”, sung by him in the movie, Fame, is the perfect piece to steal a girl’s heart :)

I haven’t seen the movie because it seemed like some teenagers’ Hip Hop thing and it reminds me of High School Musical, which I didn’t exactly enjoy except for Zac Efron‘s pretty face, but now I might just consider watching it after exams!

If I walk would you run
If I stop would you come
If I say you’re the one would you believe me
If I ask you to stay would you show me the way
Tell me what to say so you don’t leave me
The world is catching up to you
while your running away to chase your dream
Its time for us to make a move cause we are asking one another to change
and maybe im not ready

CHORUS
but im trying for your love
I can hide up above
I will try for your love
we’ve been hiding enough

if I sing you a song would you sing along
or wait till im gone , oh how we push and pull
if I give you my heart would you just play the part
or tell me it’s the start of something beautiful
am I catching up to you
while your running away , to chase your dreams
its time for us to face the truth cause we are coming to each other to change
and maybe im not ready

CHORUS
but im trying for your love
I can hide up above
I will try for your love
we’ve been hiding enough

I will try for your love
I can hide up above

If I walk would you run
If I stop would you come
If I say you’re the one would you believe me

I’m Walking On Sunshine!

Peeks talk! Outing with Shu, brief meeting with Jia Min to pass her birthday present :) 2012 rocks, but a little too many visual effects for a day. Will the world really end in 2012? Some people, such as the Mayanist scholars, actually predicted this apocalyptic event, but astronomers and scientists have rejected it “on the grounds that the anticipated events are precluded by astronomical observations, or are unsubstantiated by the predictions that have been generated from these findings.” (Wikipedia)

I don’t know and I probably don’t care, if I’m meant to leave this world, at least I’ll be with my family :) Anyway, If I were to leave everything behind and escape the Earth something that I will conveniently take along with me is my Ipod given to me by Puppyeyes! I will make music accompany me until my last breath…Let the music heal your soul, right? Hahaha OMG am I talking rubbish?!

Argh! dry hair alert!!

Romance – A Double-Edged Sword.

Sometimes I think I’m in love with falling in love, or with romance. Just refer to the novels I grew up with..and that jigsaw puzzle in my room (secret)! It never fails to give me this extraordinarily superb feeling that the world is perfect, simply knowing someone truly loves and cares about you. It can be so irrational, so mind-blowing, yet so beautiful and even if it means losing control of the situation, you simply want to know what happens next and how the other party will react to you. Sounds familiar? I’m sure many girls feel the way I do.

But the worst fear, EVER, is not when the romantic sparks die away and you begin to see truths/facts in a more discerning light. It is when you realized you’ve fallen in love with the wrong person and that the whole encounter is a complete mistake.

Perhaps Twilight’s Kristen Stewart understands exactly what I’m talking about.

“Romance doesn’t work unless you have vested interest from both parties in equal parts…A romance is not real unless the man is just as equally taken as the woman.” – Kristen Stewart

If real love doesn’t exist, at least I can seek to fulfill my fiery imagination and fantasies of romances in novels and films, complete with pretty faces and perfectly sculpted bodies like Taylor Lautner’s.

A Break Between Exams!

The latest look that almost every guy can pull off requires an essential piece of apparel: a jackets or pullover, depending on whether you want it to be casual or more formal. I recall that just a few days back my brother was asking me for some advice and I gladly helped in putting his outfit together. It was really fun talking about it (he loves fashion too!) and I was impressed that he actually looked pretty good! :P

Anyway, some takeaway points from that experience:

  • For guys, never wear more than 3 distinct colours at once. Shades of the same colours are still fine, but too many colours just show how hard you’re trying…and still failed.
  • Stripes and checks simply do not go together. I believe there’re exceptions, depending on how you match them, but most people cannot pull it off.
  • You may wear 2 pieces of checks/stripes – say a checked/striped shirt with a pullover or cardigan that also contains stripes/checks. But seldom can you wear one checked and one striped and get away without looking like a clown! Oh, and remember not to wear them in close proximity to each other!
  • Never underestimate your footwear! It can either make or break your outfit! Sometimes I’m wowed by some guys on the street who can dress, until my gaze travelled all the way down to their shoes. Epic disaster when you wear a blazer or formal-looking pullover but the beauty of it all didn’t make it to your feet. Tsk! Anyway, you can still try something unexpected – like a pair of brighter coloured shoes despite an overall black/blue/grey/white appearance. Just don’t splash on neon red, yellow or green. Traffic stopper? Eww.

Just to give you guys some inspiration, check out these 3 pretty boys in great stylish jackets! Shop at Heritage 1981 for their trendy range of jackets and coats!

Notice that each and every jacket brings out a different look!

3 TO GO!

Ok, this is really random but my brother and I were so tickled by this advertisement when we were watching television just now. This commercial by Heineken has been airing for some time, but whenever we see it we can’t resist imitating the way the guys reacted when they saw the “unlimited supply” of beer in that walk-in fridge. *flapping hands in excitement*, huh? LOL!

And this is the other version, equally hilarious! Enjoy!

Oh, did I mention that I love Heineken?

Daul Kim.

A South-Korean top fashion model, Daul Kim (31 May 1989 – 19 November 2009) had phenomenal success in the fashion industry though she was only 20. Her death, possibly by suicide, really saddened me although I didn’t know about her until recently. I was impressed by her achievements as a model – she appeared in prominent fashion publications such as Harper’s Bazaar and British Vogue. Karl Lagerfeld, Vivienne Westwood, Chanel, Alexander McQueen and Christopher Kane are among the top designers who consistently used Kim to showcase their latest collections. Apparently, Kim had suffered from depression and frustration for a long time, and had voiced her frustrations in her own weblog (iliketoforkmyself.blogspot.com – it’s now closed) and in her paintings.

I wouldn’t bravely say that I identify with Daul Kim because ultimately I do not know her personally. What I feel, though, and what I sometimes tell my closest friends is that once in awhile, I feel estranged because I’m entrapped by complex feelings and emotions that perhaps no one understands completely.

“Don’t you think I’m a case of a lost and sensitive soul who is unable to cope with the demands of this world?”

Don’t get me wrong. I believe that I’m an optimistic person who still meets challenges and do overcome them most of the time. In fact I grow stronger with each obstacle, negative experience or setback. I determinedly know my own capabilities and strive to do the best that I can. It’s just that the road ahead often seems too long and too empty for someone like me who enjoys short-term gratifications. I guess that’s my weakness. But I will not be conned.
